Rock it for Fall Fridays: White Denim

Welcome to my first Rock it for Fall Friday post! I’ve seen a lot of buzz around the blogosphere about everyone getting the last wear out of their summer favorites, and it got me thinking that a change of season doesn’t have to mean giving up everything you invested in for summer.  As a girl on a budget, I’m always looking for ways to increase the longevity of every item in my wardrobe, so for the next few weeks I’ll be dedicating my Friday fashion posts to tips on how to outfit your summer favorites for the upcoming fall season.

If you’ve been following my fashion posts, then you probably know I have been living in my white skinny jeans this summer. They have quickly become a wardrobe staple for me, and while I know it’s a fashion rule not to wear white after Labor Day, I’m choosing to be rebellious this year.

The trick to making your white denim fall appropriate is all about coverage and color choice. Fall is all about muted, earthy tones (think mustard yellow, olive green, burnt orange, burgundy and plum) that match the changing leaves this season is known for, so make sure to keep this in mind when choosing a top. I went casual with this military style green top from AE; the 3/4 sleeves are light enough for summer’s end and warm enough for fall’s beginning.

If you want to add pops of color, accessories are the way to go. I added pops of pink to this outfit with my studded Rachel Rachel Roy snakeskin flats (sale!) and layered ombre Loft necklace. The pink adds the perfect pop of color while still complimenting the green top. Other great color pairings are mustard yellow and navy, plum and orange or brown and burgundy. As temperatures drop, switch from flats to a versatile ankle bootie like these stitched booties from AE. To top things off, I added a braided brown belt to compliment my dark brown leather bag.

Top: American Eagle (similar) | Jeans: American Eagle (last seen here and here) | Flats: Rachel Rachel Roy “Castalia” (on sale for $59!) | Necklace: Loft (similar) | Belt: F21 | Bag: gift

I’m so glad you posted this! I’ve been mourning the loss of my white jeans, but seeing how awesome this outfit is totally makes me realize I can still wear them for fall. Those flats are awesome (I just got similar ones!) and this overall look is so cute. Love it, Stephanie!

You are too sweet! You definitely need to invest in a pair. I never liked white denim before, but I was so drawn to them this summer. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn these, so I’m excited to transition them into fall!

I wear my white jeans all year around. in the fall and winter time I pair them with cognac coloured items, looks so chic and elegant even with brown boots :-). Thanks for introducing me to Rachel Roy’s footwear, never heard of that label and already love it. Do you mind if I get those flats? I am sooooooooo in love with it, they are truly a statement piece. You look beautiful Steph! Only 3,5 months till you get to see your family 🙂

That’s another great suggestion – white jeans would be so cute with a slouchy cognac sweater and boots in the fall/winter when it gets colder. Of COURSE I don’t mind if you get the flats, they are seriously so comfortable and fun. Rachel Roy has super unique footwear, she’s one of my favorite designers. And yes, only a few more months until Christmas!

Holy Shit, they want 46 Dollars to deliver it to Germany hahhaha, that’s ridiculous. too bad they really look good but I am not spending as much on delivery as on the shoe price 🙂

.aaaand another item I’ve been wanting. White jeans! Seriously..fly out to CA this instance, so we can get our shop on! Everything should be on sale now so we can hit gold w/all the summer stuff!!

I love the green. I’m a lover of green. I have a lot of it, since it brings out my eyes..I admit..I play that up a bit. ;p
Way to beat that rule and wear those white pants!

I love the whole idea for this series! I can’t wait to see what other outfits you pull together 🙂 I’m a big fan of the military green + brown pairing – you’re right, it really “autumns up” the white. Gorgeous!

Thanks Jessica! It’s definitely putting my creativity to the test. I also have the challenge of wearing things that are weather appropriate- I have to be careful with layering as it’s still VERY warm in Florida. Glad you like the concept!

I love that you’re wearing white jeans in late summer/fall! I even want to wear my white jeans in the winter (I pinned an outfit with all black… black boots, black blazer, black hat. but white jeans! so cute!).

I hadn’t thought of wearing them in the winter too but that’s a great idea! Come winter time you should definitely do an outfit post for this, I’d love to see the outfit you have in mind come to life.

I have some white pants…but feel so uncomfortable on them! I feel that color does not go well with me… :/ But looks great on you! And that jacket/shirt is beautiful 😀

I am LOVING this look! It’s seriously gorgeous… you pull off the white denim so well! I’m always afraid to try them out. Mostly because I’m a notorious coffee-spiller and I’m scared I’d ruin them!

Thank you! You know, I always spill things too but somehow I have never spilled anything on these pants. I never wore white before but I became infatuated with it this summer…I can’t get enough. You should definitely give white pants a go 🙂

This entire look – I adore the whole thing. That is the perfect shade of olive on the safari jacket and those ballet flats are awesome!

(BTW, do you mind me asking, what kind of camera/lens do you use? Your pics are always so awesome).

Thanks so much! Olive is one of my favorite fall shades, next to burnt orange. Thanks for the compliment on my pics, I use a Canon EOS 50D with my 50mm 1.8 lens. If you don’t have 50mm 1.8 already I definitely recommend one, you get beautiful pictures and great depth of field and the lens only costs around $100. Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks so much! I ended up upgrading from my point-and-shoot to a compact flash type a few months ago and I am regretting not shelling out a few more bucks and going DSLR. I unfortunately kind of have the camera bug again, hehe.
