Rock it for Fall Fridays: Neon

Shirt: F21 (last seen here) | Blazer: Thrifted | Pants: F21 (17.80!) | Belt: Aerie (similar) | Shoes: Nine West | Necklace: F21 | Shades: RayBan

Last time I wore this shirt, you all scolded me for letting it hang in my closet unloved for so long. I’m proud to report I’ve worn it manytimes since then and this top is certainly not going to be shunned once summer’s over. Neon was huge for summer, but it definitely doesn’t have to get the boot for fall.

The trick to introducing neon into your fall ensembles is moderation. While it was great to pair brights with brights during summer, toning down your look will make it suitable for fall. Limit yourself to choosing one neon piece per outfit (or 2-3 if using accessories), and then layer with neutral colors. For this outfit, I chose a black ankle pant to provide contrast and threw on a grey blazer to add polish for work. Add pops of color with your accessories, like the multi-color beaded chain necklace and green belt I chose for this outfit. The addition of colored accessories will add some interest to your neutral layering pieces.

For a more casual weekend look, ditch the blazer and layer with a denim chambray shirt instead. Trade the heels for flats and you’re ready to run errands or catch a movie in style. Here are some other fun ideas for outfitting your favorite neon pieces:

What neon pieces are you bringing with you into the fall season? What are some ideas you have for adding neon to your fall wardrobe?

A whole lotta patience and even MORE hairspray. Oh and lots of carefully places bobby pins 🙂 I’ve found the sock bun thing works best for me if I wet my hair and add a lot of hairspray before rolling it (I have a lot of layers and shorter hair). After a few tries I usually get it wrapped tight enough and then secure flyaways with bobby pins. Have an amazing weekend Alyssa!

Those pants are so gorgeous on you! This whole look is incredibly professional without losing that “Stephanie factor.” I think the chambray shirt look would be so perfect for a weekend trip to the farmer’s market – I might have to try tomorrow! 🙂

Thanks Jessica! I was looking for a pair of black pants for work and was so happy I found these from F21. They are super comfy too which is an added bonus. I want to give the chambray look a try too for the weekend, it’s perfect for fall weather. 🙂

Neon is such a fun color to have on, and I love how it’s a persevering trend as of late. Love how you look work appropriate and classy, because this post is only solidifying my opinion that my mostly monochrome wardrobe is in desperate need of some fun neon color!

Hi Sabrina, thanks for checking out my blog! I love that neon is hanging around for fall too and even more excited that I can make it work appropriate. You should definitely implement neon into your wardrobe, you can always purchase a few neon colored accessories if you don’t want to go too bold with the trend yet.

You are so cute! And I’m loving your topknot bun! And I’m glad to hear that neon is still hot for fall – I love me some bright pink 🙂

You are too sweet! I worked hard to work my hair into that bun, but I’m slowly getting the hang of it and it’s becoming easier to recreate this style over and over again. Thanks so much for the invite to Friday’s Fancies – I still have a couple of Rock it for Fall Friday posts to get through but I’d love to link up anyway!
