In my elemint

It seems last week’s fashion post was a hit (click here if you missed it), so I’m going to keep them coming! Every Friday I’ll be focusing on style topics, so if you have any ideas of things you’d like to see don’t hesitate to comment or email me with suggestions. I’d also like to thank all of you who are reading and find my posts relatable…I’m so glad you’re all enjoying this blog!

What’s my favorite trend right now? Easy: MINT. Hands down, this is my favorite color to wear right now. But while mint is my favorite trend, I’ve also found it can be a little difficult to outfit. I’ll admit I’ve been playing it safe and mostly pairing my mint denim with white blouses. I know, boooooring! That’s why I thought I’d challenge myself to come up with a more interesting way for you (and me) to wear our mint denim this summer.

If you’re feeling adventurous, try pairing mint with a color you wouldn’t normally choose. I chose this camel colored dove print top I just got in the mail Wednesday from F21 (loving the cut out detail in the back). I chose neutral shoes and accessories to pull it all together.  If you need something slightly more business, throw on a white blazer and trade the wedges for nude pumps.

Top: F21 | Jeans: H&M (similar) | Shoes: Steve Madden via DSW | Earrings: Target (old) | Bracelets: Loft (old)

PS- I’m pretty proud of my braided bangs. Seriously, you guys have no idea how challenged I am when it comes to doing my hair. So sad! I found these awesome tutorials for all sorts of hairstyles (braided bangs being one of them), so if you need some hair inspiration click here for tons of ideas.

How are you wearing your mint this summer?

That means a lot, thank you! I’m having fun posting them…if nothing else it’s good inspiration for me to get up and put on a good outfit in the morning. I was becoming a little lazy with my style…this is a nice way to spice things up again!

Girl, you don’t know how happy the hair comment just made me. Only weeks ago a frustrated me was staring at my hair in the mirror and cursing it because I had no idea how to style it for my dad’s wedding. I saw those tutorials online and kept trying until I got it right…I’m glad I can finally do something somewhat exciting with it!

I was the same way…I kept looking and I even bought a few pairs and when I received them they weren’t the shade of mint I was envisioning…then I finally found these at H&M! I’m just glad that by the time I found a pair they were still on trend…seems like mint is here to stay awhile 🙂

PS- think I’m going to try your ice cream sandwich recipe this weekend. Do you think cinnamon ice cream would be yummy??

What a great outfit! Mint definitely looks fabulous on you! Love how you paired it with that adorable printed top! You hair looks GORGEOUS! Trust me, I feel your pain with hair styling. Mine is so boring, and I can’t do a thing with it.

Thank you, Jenny! I think mint is a great color for anyone, that’s one of the reasons I love it so much. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has trouble with my hair either! I have super thick hair and even though I have natural wave, it gets a little dull and flat sometimes. Hairspray is my BFF, haha. 🙂

There are so many different styles available in mint…if pants dont work try a cute skirt or cropped jeans 🙂 And thank you for the comment on my hair! One of my favorite brands is Frizz Ease by John Frieda. I use the curl perfecting spray, it works wonders for thick/frizzy hair and also helps enhance natural waves without giving that crunchy feel. I use that and lots of hairspray to give my hair extra volume. I hope that helps!

Thank you Lindsey! I have been surprised too…they work with so many pieces in my wardrobe. PS- just checked out your blog and noticed you live in Columbus? I was born there and lived there almost my entire life! Small world!
