5 Days of Pinterest: Wine Cork Rudolph

Pinterest is a great thing: it helps us find inspiration when we need to decide what to make for parties, assists us when get dressed in the morning, and causes us to start every sentence with “so I saw this thing on Pinterest….” But it’s also a great resource for finding ways to repurpose things you have sitting around the house.

Being a wine lover I’ve accumulated quite the collection of wine corks, thinking someday I’d find a cool project to use them for. Enter wine cork Rudolph! I saw this pin and thought it was adorable, and the best part is it only takes about 5 minutes to make.

Here’s what you’ll need:
– 4 wine corks
– 1 small or medium red pom pom
– 2 medium wiggle eyes
– 2 Brown pipe cleaners
– Hot glue gun
– Ribbon (optional, if you want to make this into an ornament)

The process is pretty self explanatory, just use 1 full wine cork for the body and then cut 2 wine corks in half to make legs. Cut the remaining cork in half to make a head and then attach everything to the body using a hot glue gun. I used a red pom pom for the nose and wiggle eyes, then made some antlers out of pieces of brown pipe cleaner. It’s a little different from the original pin, but I love how mine came out. You could easily tie a thin pieces of ribbon around the center of the body to make this a christmas ornament.

Important update: As soon as I hit publish and walked back into my living room to admire Rudolph, I found he had been brutally attacked and ripped into little pieces by a mysterious beast….
rudolphkillerShe has the whole “innocent puppy” thing down! Looks like I’ll be re-making a new Rudolph tonight.

What fun things would you use your own wine cork Rudolph for?signature

This is such a cute idea! And I also have a bunch of wine corks laying around to be used up for a craft like this. Aww poor Rudolph, but I bet you couldn’t stay mad at that face for long.

You should definitely try it, it’s a cute little holiday decoration and I’m not lying when I say it literally only takes 5 minutes. And I definitely couldn’t stay mad at her, she’s too darn cute!

A key statement around my apartment is “you’re lucky you’re cute”. Unfortunately Rudolph’s cuteness had no effect on Bally. haha I love the idea of making him into an ornament!

That’s funny because I say that exact phrase at LEAST once every day! I think he’d be cute as an ornament too. He was destined to become an ornament on my tree this year, but it seems miss Bally had other plans for him…

I purchased a wine cork reindeer last year from a local winery and wanted to make a few for friends! I definitely cannot leave corks unattended with my doggies though. They love them!

Oh no!! She definitely has the “guilty puppy” thing down…we’ll walk in on her chewing something and she instantly stops and puts on her innocent face. It’s kind of impossible to be mad at her.
