5 Days of Pinterest: Monogram Door Hangers

When I first created my holiday pin board (check it out here) this was one of the first things I added to it. A simple letter with holly berries glued to it looked easy enough, so I set off to Michael’s, picked up a wooden letter and some holly and went home to start my project. Let’s just say it wasn’t quite as easy as the pin made it look. The holly pieces were hot glued together so they were hard to break off into smaller pieces to glue to my letter. After some mild frustration, I decided to put my own creative spin on things.

I took ANOTHER trip to Michael’s and picked up some acrylic paint, ribbon and some cute sequin and glitter styrofoam circles and decided to try this project once again. In my opinion, this approach is much easier to do yourself and you can be a lot more creative with it. I used some of the leaves from the holly and hot glued them together with the decorative styrofoam circles to make unique designs to attach to the letters. The options are literally endless! When you’re finished decorating the letter, simply cut some ribbon and hot glue it to the back of the letter so you can hang it up easily. If you’re strapped for cash and have a few hours to spare, this is a great project for a last minute Christmas gift.

I made a bunch of monogram hanging letters for friends a few years ago, with colors and designs that reminded me of themโ€“they were such a hit! I love how you turned this into a decoration. So cute, Steph!

Thanks Alyssa! I actually made a bunch of these as gifts for everyone in my family. Obviously I couldn’t post them here or the surprise would have been ruined, but everyone loved them. Homemade gifts are the best, and they’re perfect if you’re strapped for cash. I’m sure yours were adorable!

That is such a cute idea! I would love to make a couple of these that spell out a word to set on a shelf year round. There are so many possibilities outside of christmas decor for these!

Haha crafting definitely takes a lot of motivation! I think it actually takes me about the same amount of time to pick out the supplies as it does to do the project. These were SUPER easy though. Just paint and a little hot glue!

Love it! Also, loved the little reindeer out of wine corks. I saw a Christmas tree made with wine corks glued to a Styrofoam cone and glued to a brass candlestick. The reindeer would be really cute with that one…..

I have some letters that I purchased for our wedding that are in need of some love. I can’t wait to spruce them up like you did!
